    Kapar crash: Two people on board aircraft, confirms CAAM

    PETALING JAYA: The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) reported that a light aircraft crashed near Kapar in Klang with two people on board on Tuesday (Feb 13).

    According to CAAM chief executive officer Datuk Capt Norazman Mahmud, it is currently unclear what condition the two individuals are in.

    “The Transport Ministry’s Air Accident Investigation Bureau will be conducting investigations into the crash,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Feb 13).

    Norazman stated that the last contact between the plane and air traffic control officers was at 1:35pm, and no distress calls had been received.

    “The Kuala Lumpur Aeronautical Rescue Coordination Centre (KLARCC) of the Kuala Lumpur Air Traffic Control Centre (KLATCC) was immediately activated to identify the exact location of the plane,” he said.

    He revealed that the aircraft was a BK 160 Gabriel model and was managed by the Air Adventure Flying Club.

    The aircraft had taken off from the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Airport in Subang, Selangor, at 1.28pm for a recreational flight.

    Earlier on Tuesday, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department confirmed a light aircraft had crashed at Kg Tok Muda in Kapar, Klang.

    Its assistant director, Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar, reported that a distress call regarding the incident was received at 1.56pm on Tuesday.

    Fire and Rescue teams from the Kapar Fire and Rescue station were dispatched to the scene.

    Search and rescue activities are ongoing, with the road to the crash site cordoned off by the authorities.
