A 13-year-old boy who was involved in an incident where an ehailing driver was attacked has pleaded not guilty in the Sungai Petani Magistrate’s Court to a charge of attempted robbery.
Accompanied by his parents, the boy appeared in court on Sunday (Dec 3) to face the charge. He is accused of attempting to rob 65-year-old Lee Ang Hie at Taman Keladi around 6pm on Nov 27, as reported by Sinar Harian.

If found guilty under Section 393 of the Penal Code, the boy could be sentenced to a maximum of seven years in jail and a fine.
The incident was captured on the victim’s dashcam and the video went viral on social media, attracting widespread attention.

According to Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Zaidy Che Hassan, the suspect was apprehended at around 10pm on the same day after the victim reported the incident to the police.
Police found a 25cm-long knife in the victim’s car, which was seized as evidence.
Following his arrest, the boy was remanded for one day to aid in the investigations under Section 393 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery.
