The Kelantan state government believes that the announcement of flood mitigation projects and funds will have a positive impact on the well-being of the state’s people, according to Mentri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud.
He expressed his gratitude for the funding and welcomed the announcement by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Mohd Nassuruddin stated, “We appreciate the approval of the RM6mil allocation to construct a temporary embankment, including the Sungai Golok Integrated River Basin Development Project spillway structure.”
In addition, the Kelantan government is thankful for the five new projects to address the flood issues, with a total estimated cost of RM910.52mil, set to begin next year (2024).
“We (the Kelantan state government) will take all the necessary steps to expedite the process of reclaiming land for these projects,” he mentioned in a Facebook post on Saturday (Dec 30).
Mohd Nassuruddin also expressed his appreciation to Anwar for the distribution of Wang Ihsan amounting to RM177.96mil to the state of Kelantan.
He added, “This year (2023) we (Kelantan) received a total of RM216.96mil under Wang Ihsan. These announcements and funding will not only help the people of Kelantan but strengthen the spirit of federalism between the state and the Federal Government.”
