The Kelantan Road Transport Department (JPJ) has confiscated 422 vehicles during the Special Motorcycle Operation between Sept 1 and Sept 27, according to Kelantan JPJ deputy director Nazili Kadir. Out of the total, 151 motorcycles were operated by foreign nationals. Nazili stated that during the operation, a total of 14,163 vehicles were inspected, out of which 2,053 were subjected to action, 422 were confiscated, and 5,015 summonses were issued. The operation was mainly aimed at monitoring and taking action against motorcycle riders and owners who have committed offences under the Road Transport Act 1987 and traffic regulations. The operation also focused on offences related to driving licenses, motor vehicle licenses, traffic signal violations, modifications, and illegal racing.
Nazili Kadir advised the public not to rent or lend their vehicles to foreigners as it is considered an offence that could result in legal consequences. He further explained that when foreigners are involved in accidents while driving without a valid license, it becomes challenging to make insurance claims. The press conference took place after the operation at the JPJ Enforcement Station in Labok on Wednesday night.
