KUALA LUMPUR: The Kemaman parliamentary by-election’s important dates are expected to be announced on Tuesday (Oct 17).
A special meeting, chaired by Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh, will be held at the EC Tower, Putrajaya, starting at 10am to discuss this matter.
The date for the election writ, nomination date, polling date, electoral roll to be used, and other preparations for the by-election will be disclosed by Abdul Ghani during a subsequent media conference right after the special meeting.
This by-election is being held due to the Terengganu Elections Court ruling that annulled the election victory of PAS candidate, Che Alias Hamid, after voter Wan Mohamad Hisham Wan Abdul Jalil successfully proved bribery occurred during the 15th General Election with the intent to influence voters.
PAS decided not to appeal the decision on Oct 3. – Bernama
