KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 480 food boxes donated by the Malaysian public are set to be airdropped to northern Gaza using a Royal Jordanian Air Force C130 cargo plane in the near future. This mission represents the first collaboration between a Malaysian non-governmental organisation (NGO), Karisma Humanitarian Outreach Mission (KHOM), and partners such as the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organisation (JHCO), Childcare Charity Association (CCCA), and the Royal Jordanian Air Force.

The Director of KHOM missions, Nik Marina Hussin, explained that the “Emergency Airdrop Operation Gaza” is a critical effort to assist the residents of northern Gaza who are facing severe food scarcity as a result of the Israeli military’s closure of all entry points. This initiative by KHOM is the latest step in their ongoing aid mission to Palestine, utilizing the airdrop method facilitated by the Royal Jordanian Air Force to reach approximately 300,000 Palestinians who have been isolated from essential supplies.

In addition to the food aid, 200 boxes of personal hygiene kits will also be transported via trucks through land routes in the southern part of Gaza. Nik Marina mentioned, “The aid is expected to reach northern Gaza within the coming week, following the necessary coordination processes with the military and adhering to the designated delivery schedule.”

While currently in Amman, Nik Marina emphasized the monitoring of the packaging activities at the warehouse in Zarqa before the handover to JHCO representatives and subsequently to the Royal Jordanian Air Force. She expressed hope that KHOM’s initiative will open doors for more Malaysian NGOs to engage in delivering aid to northern Gaza, inviting other parties to collaborate for this urgent humanitarian cause.

This humanitarian airdrop operation signifies the 14th phase of KHOM’s ongoing campaign to support Palestine following the October conflict in Gaza last year. As a registered NGO, KHOM actively conducts humanitarian missions in six countries including Jordan, Syria, and Palestine, aiming to assist refugees and victims of war. – Bernama
