PETALING JAYA: The King and other leaders extended their warm wishes to all fathers on Fathers Day.

The King and Queen of Malaysia, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim and Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, paid tribute to all fathers, with the King reminiscing about His Majesty’s late father.

“To all fathers who work hard to earn a living for their families, I honour your sacrifices.

“As a father, I understand the responsibility and important role of a father in shaping the lives of children.

“May Allah also bless my late father, Sultan Iskandar, and the late Sultan of Perak, His Majesty Sultan Idris Shah II (the Queen’s father),” said the King on Facebook yesterday.

A packed work schedule did not prevent Sultan Ibrahim from strengthening family bonds by spending time with his children.

His Majesty celebrated Fathers Day with Tunku Temenggong of Johor, Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim, and Tunku Putera of Johor, Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim.

“Bah loves his children. Thank you to all my children for the wishes and flowers on Fathers Day,” His Majesty said on Facebook.

Fathers Day is celebrated on the third Sunday of June annually to appreciate a father’s role and sacrifice as the family’s protector.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof also joined the chorus of recognition for fathers, hailing fathers for the sacrifices they make for their families.

“These great men just want to ensure their families are protected and live a happy life, even if they have to sacrifice their bodies or souls.

“Just like a mother, every father’s love is unconditional as their sacrifice knows no bounds. Happy Fathers Day,” he wrote in a Facebook post yesterday.

Likewise, Fadillah’s fellow deputy, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, also called for everyone to show appreciation for fathers on the important day.

“For those still with fathers, love and cherish them while they are still here as every moment spent with them is a priceless gift.

“Always pray for your father to be given good health and blessings in his life. Remember that our love and attention is their utmost happiness, while to those whose fathers have passed away, let us pray together that Allah showers His blessings upon their souls.

“Remember that behind a mother’s love, there is a struggle of a man called a father. Their every sacrifice and love will live on in our memories and prayers. Happy Fathers Day 2024!” he wrote on Facebook yesterday.

MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong also wished all fathers a Happy Fathers Day as he showcased the gifts his children gave him.

“Feeling incredibly grateful and proud today! Received the most heartwarming Fathers Day card and gift – a blue tartan Scottish flat cap from my amazing children.

“Their love and thoughtfulness mean the world to me and I am immensely blessed to be their father.

“Wishing all fathers out there a day filled with love, joy and cherished moments. Happy Fathers Day to everyone!” he wrote on Facebook.

Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh extended her Fathers Day wishes, on top of giving free breakfast to dads at Lembah Kiara Park in Segambut.

“Happy Fathers Day! We appreciate you and your sacrifices. Thank you, fathers,” she wrote on Facebook.
