    King congratulates unity govt for well-organised, extraordinary 2023 National Day celebrations

    The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has expressed his highest appreciation and congratulations to the unity government for successfully organizing the extraordinary and vibrant 2023 National Day celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31. Major General Datuk Zahari Mohd Ariffin, Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara, stated that His Majesty was delighted and admired the involvement of government departments, agencies, and private sector in the celebrations. He added that this year’s National Day celebrations were particularly significant for Al-Sultan Abdullah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah as it marked their final celebration as King and Queen.

    Zahari further mentioned that the celebrations would be cherished by Their Majesties as a sweet memory. His Majesty was also touched and expressed gratitude to the people of various races who attended and supported the historic event. The King was highly impressed by the patriotic displays and performances of the contingents and participants from different age groups. He also commended the spirit of patriotism and unity exhibited during the National Day celebrations throughout the country, emphasizing the significance of such unity in strengthening national harmony.

    The King expressed his hope that this unity would reflect the closeness of the people and contribute to the continuous strengthening of national harmony. Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah invited the people to pray for the safeguarding of Malaysia’s sovereignty and for the nation to be showered with peace and blessings.

    The celebrations at Dataran Putrajaya were attended by more than 100,000 people and involved 17,262 participants, 67 contingents, 36 brass bands, 534 land and air assets, as well as 100 service animals. The event was also viewed by millions of Malaysians through live broadcasts on television and social media platforms.- Bernama
