KUALA LUMPUR: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah urges unity and togetherness for nation-building, regardless of religion, race, or culture.
The King’s call coincides with the Maal Hijrah 1445H/2023M celebration in Malaysia, emphasizing the importance of unity in developing a civil society.
According to the King, the migration spirit should be translated into the present context of Malaysia, emphasizing unity regardless of religion, race, or culture for the development of the country.
During his speech at the Maal Hijrah national celebration, with the theme “Perpaduan Teras Malaysia Madani,” the King emphasized the significance of togetherness and unity, drawing parallels with the migration of Islam converts and inhabitants of Medina 1,400 years ago.
Maal Hijrah, also known as Awal Muharram, is celebrated globally by Muslims and commemorates Prophet Muhammad’s migration from Mecca to Madinah in 622.
The King commended this year’s celebration theme for its relevance, highlighting the lessons learned from Prophet Muhammad’s migration and the establishment of an inclusive Islamic administration for Muslims and non-Muslims.
Additionally, the King expressed gratitude to the government’s efforts in promoting the Malaysia Madani agenda, which aims to cultivate a society that values noble principles, fairness, and tolerance.
The King emphasized the importance of unity and urged the public to contribute to the development of a harmonious society that prioritizes honesty, trustworthiness, and responsibility, while discouraging envy, slander, and negative thinking.
Her Majesty Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, and several senior Cabinet members also attended the event held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur.
