TANJUNG MALIM: The people of Sungkai warmly welcomed Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and his convoy on their way to the National Wildlife Rescue Center (NWRC) in Sungkai on Thursday (Sept 21).
According to Istana Negara’s official Facebook page, the King, who was driving himself, also greeted the residents and handed over donations.
Al-Sultan Abdullah visited NWRC Sungkai to observe wildlife conservation efforts, including the rescue and protection of Malayan tigers smuggled in Peninsular Malaysia.
Sultan Nazrin Shah of Perak and Regent of Pahang Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah accompanied His Majesty.
Perak Chief Minister Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad and Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad were also present.
On the way back, the King spent time with residents waiting for the entourage along the road in Sungkai.
Tengku Hassanal stepped out of his vehicle and took selfies with excited residents who were thrilled to meet the Regent of Pahang in person. – Bernama
