KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Red Crescent Society’s (PBSM) 75th Anniversary Charity Gala Dinner on Saturday (Nov 4) night was graced by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Hajah Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
In her speech, MRCS national chairman Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Almarhum Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah announced that the society recently launched an appeal to assist the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) in their efforts to provide humanitarian support during the recent crisis in the region.
She stated, “We are presently making arrangements to transfer RM200,000 to the PRCS. These contributions are made possible by the generosity of Malaysians and support of the government.
“We are witnessing disregard for international humanitarian law, the Geneva Conventions, and rules and conduct of war, and urge you to continue to support our efforts,” she added.
Additionally, she mentioned that the MRCS has successfully raised RM1.9mil through contributions from corporate entities like Nestle Malaysia, CIMB Foundation, Yayasan TM, Melaleuca Southeast Asia, and Pfizer. These funds will be utilized for various humanitarian initiatives, including flood relief efforts, upgrading the society’s emergency service room, and supporting a humanitarian field school.
The event was attended by dignitaries such as Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh, and Bandar Tun Razak MP Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
During the dinner, Al-Sultan Abdullah also officiated at the launch of the PBSM 75th Anniversary Commemorative Stamp collection. – Bernama
