MIRI: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah are embarking on a 200km journey to Bintulu as part of the ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ program, on Sunday (Sept 10).
The royal couple, accompanied by the Pahang Regent Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Tengku Panglima Raja Kolonel Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah, will stop at Pantai Bungai in Bekenu, here to engage with the locals.
Located 35km from Miri, Pantai Bungai is among the popular tourist destinations in the area.
During the gathering, various activities such as a people’s feast, folk games, crafts sales, and a luncheon will be organized to enliven the atmosphere.
Afterward, the royal convoy will proceed to Kampung Penan Muslim, Batu 10, Miri-Bintulu for a tea function and a donation handover ceremony to individuals eligible to receive tithe in the region.
Their Majesties will then have a photo session at Nyabau Interchange, Bintulu.
On Monday (Sept 11), the King and Queen will visit Sibu, Sri Aman, and Kuching before continuing their journey to Telok Melano in Southern Sarawak on Sept 13.
The ‘Kembara Kenali Borneo’ program, which aims to fulfill the dream of Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah to get closer to the people of Sabah and Sarawak, commenced on Sept 3 and concluded its Sabah leg on Thursday (Sept 7).
The tour, spanning 11 days, covers a distance of 2,154km along the Pan Borneo Highway, connecting Sabah, Sarawak, and Brunei.- Bernama
