The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah will embark on their “Kembara Kenali Borneo (Getting to know Borneo)” tour of Sarawak from September 7 to 13, according to Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah. The royal convoy will cover a distance of 1,198km, traveling from the north to the southern tip of Sarawak, crossing the Merapok Immigration, Customs and Quarantine (ICQ) entry point in Lawas and ending in Telok Melano.

The King and his entourage will arrive at the Merapok ICQ in Sarawak on September 7, and from there they will proceed to Bandar Lawas, Tebingan Lawas, and then continue into Brunei Darussalam. They will stay in Brunei for three days before arriving in Miri to continue the tour in Sarawak, as stated by Abdul Karim at a press conference on August 28.

As part of the tour, the convoy will visit several locations in the northern and middle sections of Sarawak, including Coco Cabana Miri, Kampung Penan Muslim Batu 10, Rumah Panjang Raymond Plen in Sebauh, Tokong Yu Lung Tian En Si, Kampung Bandung Sibu, and Pasar Central Sibu. The journey will then proceed along the Borneo Highway to the southern part of Sarawak, encompassing Masjid Bahagian Sri Aman and reaching the Zero KM Pan Borneo Highway in Telok Melano. Abdul Karim will accompany the King and Queen throughout the tour, along with other Sarawak ministers and deputy ministers stationed at various locations to welcome the entourage.

In order to showcase the uniqueness of Sarawak cuisine and culture, attractive programs including exhibitions, handicraft demonstrations, cultural activities, and culinary presentations have been prepared at each location. The main objective of the tour is for the King’s entourage to interact with the people of Sarawak and get to know them, according to Abdul Karim.

The “Kembara Kenali Borneo” tour will commence in Tawau, Sabah on September 3 and conclude in Teluk Melano, Sarawak on September 13, covering a total distance of 2,154km. Traffic control measures have been coordinated by Istana Negara in collaboration with the state government, Royal Malaysia Police, and the offices of the Sarawak Divisions’ Residents. The public is advised to comply with instructions from authorities throughout the tour, as stated by Abdul Karim. – Bernama
