The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has urged all Malaysians to appreciate and follow the leadership and statesmanship exhibited by the late Tun Dr Ismail Abdul Rahman in nation-building. In a statement, the Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara, Major General Datuk Zahari Mohd Ariffin, revealed that the King views Dr Ismail as an irreplaceable statesman and one of the key figures in promoting national unity.
The King recognizes Dr Ismail’s outstanding qualities of humility, integrity, and commitment to the nation. His Majesty hopes that Dr Ismail’s contributions and sacrifices will inspire and serve as an example for all Malaysians, urging community and political leaders to emulate his deeds for the prosperity and well-being of the country.
The King expressed his delight and support for the government’s initiative to commemorate Dr Ismail’s contributions, particularly through the Communications and Digital Ministry’s program during this year’s National Month celebration. His Majesty believes that this program will not only honor Dr Ismail’s legacy but also instill and enhance patriotic spirit among the people, especially the younger generation, to appreciate the sacrifices made by past statesmen.
The King also prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the late Dr Ismail and expressed his hope that his soul finds its place among the pious and righteous individuals. In conjunction with the National Month celebration, the King invited the entire nation to join in praying for Malaysia’s continued prosperity, well-being, lasting unity, and protection from any calamities or disasters.
The Commemoration of Statesman Tun Dr Ismail Al-Haj – The Pillar of National Unity is an organized event aimed at educating the younger generation about Dr Ismail’s significant contribution to the nation. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to launch the event at Dataran Merdeka later today.
