SEPANG: Malaysia’s King, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, visited the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) cargo terminal on Monday (Dec 18) to oversee the preparations for the country’s third delivery of humanitarian aid to the Palestinian people.
His Majesty, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, spent about an hour examining the goods stored at the terminal’s warehouse and loaded onto the chartered cargo aircraft.
It was reported that this delivery consisted of 60 tonnes of items, including medical goods, ready-to-eat food items, baby items, and winter essentials such as mattresses and blankets. So far, Malaysia has sent a total of 100 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Palestinians, with the first two deliveries weighing 20 tonnes each.
The specially chartered aircraft is scheduled to depart from KLIA early on Tuesday (Dec 19) and arrive at the Al-Arish Military Airport in Egypt on the same day, where the aid will be handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society before being distributed to Palestinians in Gaza.
Wisma Putra, Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that the collaboration with a non-governmental organization was aimed at ensuring a more structured and effective process for delivering humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza, under the ministry’s supervision.
Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid praised the success of Ops Ihsan, stating that the collaboration has effectively managed resources and expertise to prevent overlap and ensure that aid reaches those in need.
