The Kinta District Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) has expressed their support for KK Super Mart convenience stores amidst the recent sock controversy. Chung Kok Heung, the district chairman, mentioned concern over the third Molotov cocktail attack on the store chain and urged the police to apprehend the perpetrators.

Chung highlighted how these acts of violence are instilling fear among the public, potentially discouraging individuals from making purchases at the convenience stores. He emphasized the negative impact on the local and foreign investment climate, urging an end to boycott calls and criminal actions to allow the law to take its course.

Emphasizing the need for responsibility, Chung referenced His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim’s call to avoid prolonging the issue and warned against inciting others. He specifically directed a message to Umno Youth Chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh to cease provoking the public and allow authorities to conduct thorough investigations.

Additionally, Chung highlighted the Prime Minister’s advice to shift focus to other pressing economic issues and rising living costs. He stressed the importance of preserving racial harmony and noted that the owner of KK Mart, Datuk Seri Chai Kee Kan, is a member of MCPF, solidifying the organization’s stance against boycotts and unrest.

As an organization focused on crime prevention, MCPF partners with associations and schools to promote awareness and serve as additional eyes and ears for law enforcement. Chung expressed hope that Dr Muhamad Akmal’s recent detention in Kota Kinabalu would deter future calls for boycotts and protect racial harmony.

Following a series of Molotov cocktail attacks on KK Super Mart outlets, including incidents in Kuching, Bidor, and Sungai Isap, Dr Muhamad Akmal was arrested in Kota Kinabalu after criticism surrounding a social media photo showing him with a sword.
