In the wake of another incident where a Molotov cocktail was thrown at a KK Super Mart convenience store in Sungai Isap, Kuantan, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has urged all parties not to take matters into their own hands. He emphasized the importance of respecting and abiding by the legal process in cases of misconduct.

The Prime Minister stressed that individuals who resort to violence will face consequences for their actions, as Malaysia is a peaceful country and any attempts to disrupt order using racial or religious issues will not be tolerated. Anwar also directed the police to take firm action in addressing such incidents, speaking after attending the Madani Sarawak 2024 Breaking Fast ceremony in Kota Samarahan.

Early this morning, another branch of KK Super Mart in Sungai Isap, Kuantan, was targeted with a petrol bomb, resulting in a small fire outside the store’s entrance. This marks the second similar attack, with a previous incident at a KK Super Mart branch in Jalan Bruseh, Bidor, Perak.

Responding to concerns over the registration of the Main Database System (Padu) in Sarawak, Anwar noted that discussions on the matter are important for resolving any issues. He assured that all registration matters can be addressed through peaceful dialogue, taking into account the various concerns raised by stakeholders.

As tensions rise over recent incidents and calls for boycotts, Anwar emphasized the need for calm and responsible actions from all parties involved. He called for unity in addressing challenges and avoiding inflammatory remarks that could escalate the situation further.

The Prime Minister urged Malaysians to uphold the values of peace and harmony that have long characterized the country, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and understanding in resolving conflicts. He reiterated his commitment to upholding law and order, ensuring that those responsible for violent acts will be held accountable.

Anwar’s statements come amidst growing concerns over the security and stability of public spaces, with the recent attacks on KK Super Mart outlets raising alarm among the public. Authorities have been urged to step up efforts in maintaining law and order, while also addressing underlying issues that may contribute to such incidents.

As investigations into the attacks continue, the government is expected to take swift action to ensure the safety and security of all Malaysians. Anwar reaffirmed his government’s commitment to upholding justice and protecting the country’s social fabric from those seeking to sow discord through violence and intimidation.

With tensions running high in light of recent events, Anwar’s call for restraint and adherence to the rule of law serves as a timely reminder for all citizens to uphold the principles of democracy and respect for one another. The Prime Minister’s firm stance against violence and disruption sends a clear message that such actions will not be tolerated in Malaysia.
