KL cops bust syndicate that stored drugs in luxury condos

KUALA LUMPUR: More than RM600,000 worth of drugs was seized in raids at luxury condominiums in Cheras and Semenyih.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said a 26-year-old man was also detained in the Aug 10 raids.

“The suspect was arrested at the car park of a condominium in Cheras. He has a criminal record of drug offences,” he said in a statement on Monday (Aug 14).

Further investigations led police to raid a condominium unit in Cheras on the same day, he added.

“We seized 10 blocks of heroin base worth RM320,000 and 10 blocks of syabu worth RM335,000.

“We also raided another condominium unit in Semenyih and seized RM10,200 in cash,” he said.

Comm Mohd Shuhaily said the drug syndicate is believed to have been active in the Klang Valley for two months.

“They used luxury condominiums to store drugs before selling it to customers.

“The suspect detained was the store’s caretaker,” he said, adding that the suspect has been remanded until Thursday (Aug 17).

The 3.8kg heroin base seized could have been processed to produce 31.5kg of heroin, he added.

“The heroin and syabu seized could have been supplied to 83,000 drug users. We hope the public will continue to supply information on drug-related activities to the police,” said Comm Mohd Shuhaily.
