KUALA LUMPUR: Women’s March Malaysia (WMMY) claimed that the police rejected their rally notice four times, but the city police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid has denied this allegation.
Comm Allaudeen stated that the organiser only submitted a notice to the Dang Wangi police headquarters on Friday (March 1) but failed to complete all 14 questions on the form.
He clarified, “We checked and found that we did not receive it four times as claimed. However, we have called up the organiser to obtain the complete answers.”
He emphasized that while the police do not prohibit rallies, it is necessary for organisers to submit a notice so that the police have all the relevant information.
Comm Allaudeen assured reporters at the KL police headquarters on Tuesday (March 5) that the police will deploy sufficient personnel to ensure the safety and security of all participants, despite the incomplete form.
He added, “KL police will always prioritize the safety and security of the public and we will not allow any rally to disrupt others.”
Comm Allaudeen warned that action can be taken under the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 for any offences committed during the rally.
Based on the incomplete form submitted on March 1, the organiser had only answered nine out of the 14 required questions.
