    KL cops to dispose of drugs seized from 2001 to 2021

    KUALA LUMPUR: The police in the city will dispose of drugs seized over a period of twenty years following the completion of the legal process.

    Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid announced during a disposal ceremony on Wednesday (Oct 25) at the KL police headquarters that the drugs being disposed of were from cases dating from 2001 to 2021.

    “These case items that are due for disposal involve 2,894 investigation papers from 2001 to 2021, all of which have completed their court trials,” he said.

    The disposal process will take place at the Kualiti Alam waste treatment centre in Bukit Pelandok, Negri Sembilan, according to the police chief, who also mentioned that the company responsible for the disposal has the necessary experience and expertise.

    Among the drugs being disposed of are 36kg of methamphetamine valued at RM3.61 million and RM3.62 million (72.25kg) of cannabis.

    “The estimated weight of the drugs being disposed of is approximately 325.32kg, along with 907.59 litres. Their combined value has been estimated at RM8.89 million,” he added.
