KUALA LUMPUR: Inter-agency discussions are being conducted to find more ways to aid the search for 48-year-old Vijayalaksmi from India, says Tan Sri Razarudin Husain.

When met at the sinkhole site in Masjid India, the Inspector-General of Police said that the authorities have been working day and night but the water flow below was “fast”.

“The water in the chamber is fast and normally sewage flow is heaviest in the day. Efforts to put in cameras are done at night from midnight to 6am.

“We have also timed how long it takes to reach the end. Today, the Malaysia Nuclear Agency had come to conduct scans,” he said, adding that around 115 people from all relevant agencies have been deployed as part of search operations.

He also said that tests, including soil tests, have been conducted to determine the safety of the Jalan Masjid India areas.

Vijayalaksmi,48, a tourist from India, fell into the 8m-deep sinkhole on Jalan Masjid India after the ground gave way when she was walking to a nearby temple at 8.22am on Friday (Aug 23).
