A man has been taken into custody in connection with an incident where a security guard was harmed by a Molotov cocktail.

Assistant Commissioner Cha Hoong Fong, the South Klang OCPD, stated that the police were notified about the matter after a 39-year-old security guard filed a police report on September 13th.

“The complainant claimed that at approximately 4:20am, he and the 25-year-old victim were on duty at a warehouse in Taman Perindustrian Air Hitam, when two individuals on a motorcycle threw a bottle containing a flammable liquid at the guardhouse,” ACP Cha stated in a statement on September 14th.

He further added, “The victim was asleep inside at the time and sustained burns on his face and arms.”

The victim reached out to a colleague and was immediately transported to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah for medical attention.

“The victim’s condition is stable but requires additional treatment,” ACP Cha informed.

“According to the CCTV footage from the warehouse, a motorcycle stopped at the front gate and the pillion rider tossed four bottles at the guard post,” he said, mentioning that the suspects fled the scene when the fire started to spread.

Forensic experts from the police have gathered samples and evidence at the location, ACP Cha revealed.

An investigation paper has been initiated under Section 326 of the Penal Code, which deals with causing grievous hurt, he added.

He also revealed, “On Thursday at approximately 3pm, we apprehended a 39-year-old suspect to aid in the investigation,” and clarified that the suspect had no previous criminal records.

A three-day remand order has been obtained for the suspect.
