GEORGE TOWN: A flash flood has occurred in Komtar and the surrounding areas due to heavy rain in the city and its surroundings.
Several areas in Komtar and the surrounding areas have been flooded to ankle-deep levels, as seen in videos and images shared by Komtar assemblyman Teh Lai Heng.
Officials were seen handling a python measuring about three metres long on a road beneath Komtar, as shown in a photo.
Wong Yuee Harng, the Pengkalan Kota assemblyman, mentioned that traders at the Cecil Street market have complained about overflowing gutters on the roof, causing water to enter the building.
The rain started at around 11am and is still ongoing at the time of this report.
