IPOH: Passengers can enjoy complimentary one-way KTMB Komuter Utara train rides between Ipoh and Butterworth for two consecutive days.
Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad announced that, in conjunction with the commencement of the new KTMB Utara route to Padang Rengas and Ipoh, the general public is entitled to free train journeys.
These free rides will be accessible on September 16 and 17.
“The two-day complimentary rides are restricted to one-way trips originating from three stations in Ipoh, Sungai Siput, and Kuala Kangsar, heading towards other stations located along the Ipoh-Butterworth route,” Saarani revealed in a statement.
“We believe that the introduction of these new routes will have a positive impact on the state, particularly on the tourism industry, and will also facilitate the daily transportation needs of individuals travelling for work or leisure purposes,” he added.
“By fostering collaboration among all relevant parties, we can further strengthen the ‘rail tourism’ industry, particularly with the aim of ensuring the success of Visit Perak Year 2024 through various organized plans that seek to attract more tourists,” he further elaborated.
Saarani indicated that the journey duration from Butterworth to Ipoh typically takes one hour and 56 minutes.
He specified that the ticket price for a one-way adult fare is RM12.80, while the concessionary fare for children, senior citizens, and individuals with disabilities is RM6.40.
“The first train from Ipoh to Butterworth will depart at 4.40am, and the initial train from Butterworth to Ipoh will leave at 5.30am,” Saarani announced.
“The final departure from Ipoh will be at 6.35pm, while from Butterworth it will be at 7.10pm,” he concluded.
