Labuan Corporation Approves 50% Discount on Rental Rates for Commercial Premises in Labuan Central Market
KOTA KINABALU: In a bid to support local businesses, Labuan Corporation has recently announced a 50% discount on rental rates for commercial premises in Labuan Central Market and its surrounding areas. This initiative will apply to levels 1 and 2 of the market, as well as other premises such as the pork market, bus station, and taxi station located next to the central market.
The decision to approve this discount was made during a board meeting chaired by Labuan Corporation chairman, Senator Tan Sri Anifah Aman. The chairman and corporation members, who were newly appointed on June 19 this year, have given it their utmost attention. A total budget of RM364,560 has been allocated for this discount, which will be valid for one year, starting from January 1 to December 31, 2023.
Labuan Corporation aims to benefit numerous commercial premises owned by the corporation, including 151 stalls on Level 1, 13 stalls on Level 2, 10 kiosk units located near dry food product sales counters, three stalls at the bus and taxi stations, and the pork market. By providing this discount, Labuan Corporation aims to address the concerns and complaints raised by traders and offer them some relief in their efforts to recover their sources of income.
“This is a proactive step taken by Labuan Corporation to support our local traders. We understand their challenges and hope that this discount will help them in their economic recovery,” said Labuan Corporation in a statement. With the aim of supporting the business community and fostering economic growth, Labuan Corporation continues to prioritize the needs and concerns of its traders.
