Police in Batu Pahat have appealed to the public and the family of Mira Sharmila Samsusah, also known as Bella, to give them the space and time to conduct their investigation into her disappearance. The 32-year-old single mother of two was reported missing on Dec 16, and the police have assured that investigations are still ongoing.

Assistant Commissioner Ismail Dollah, the officer in charge of the Batu Pahat district, has urged Bella’s family to be patient and trust the police while they carry out their inquiry. He emphasized that a thorough investigation is being conducted from all angles, and there are details which cannot be disclosed in order to avoid hindering the investigation.

“A 24-year-old man, believed to be her boyfriend, was previously arrested in connection with the case, but he has since been released on police bail. He may be recalled if necessary,” ACP Ismail said in an interview on Wednesday (Jan 3). The case is being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code, he added.

Five individuals have had their statements recorded so far, and the authorities are working diligently to unravel the mystery of Bella’s disappearance. This was the update provided when ACP Ismail was questioned about the latest progress in the case.

In the meantime, Bella’s 36-year-old sister, Norhisham, expressed the family’s hope for her safe return. She revealed that they have been approached by several parties offering assistance in searching for Bella, showing the concern and support from various quarters across Malaysia. “We have also consulted with several uztaz (religious teachers), but we are also allowing the police to carry out their investigation until Bella is found,” she commented.
