The Kajang-Seremban Highway (Lekas) will experience a temporary closure from 5pm on Saturday (Oct 21) until 4 am on Sunday (Oct 22) due to the RHB LEKAS Highway Ride 2023, an annual night cycling race. Lekas CEO Wan Salwani Wan Yusoff announced that the closure will affect the stretch from the Kajang Selatan interchange to the Paroi junction, encompassing nine junctions with 20 entry and exit roads. This measure aims to ensure the safety and smoothness of the over 6,000 participants’ ride.
During the road closure, northbound and southbound road users from Kuala Lumpur, Cheras, Kajang, Seremban, Senawang, and Kuala Pilah are advised to utilize Federal Route 1 or the PLUS Highway for their travel. This closure has been approved by the Works Ministry.
The event received sponsorships from the Malaysian Highway Authority, the venue provider, the Bukit Aman Traffic Division, responsible for the traffic management plan, and the Malaysian Sports Commissioner, who coordinated the cycling event. Wan Salwani expressed their gratitude towards the Royal Malaysia Police for their support and cooperation by deploying officers from Kajang, Mantin, Nilai, and Seremban to assist with the road closure.
Lekas extends an apology to road users for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure.
