Malaysian crooner Sherman Tan, who is based in Lithuania, recently reached the finals of the Lithuania Got Talent show, which brought him great joy. As a seasoned musician, Tan has been living in Lithuania since 2019. He received the “golden buzzer” from singer and actress Inga Jankauskaite, one of the judges, which means he will proceed directly to the super final of the talent show set to air in December. This makes him the first Malaysian to achieve such a feat in the country.

Tan’s performance of ‘Iris’, a song by American rock band Goo Goo Dolls, received a standing ovation from the audience and judges on the show, which aired on September 10. He truly impressed everyone with his talent.

Tan expressed his surprise and described the experience as funny and surreal. He even mentioned that he was unsure of what was happening since there was no confetti or buzzer sound when he received the golden buzzer. Tan admitted feeling a bit nervous on stage, fearing that he might play the wrong chord.

The other two judges, Marijonas Mikutavicius, a TV host and performer, and Justinas Jankevicius, a TV host, also praised Tan for his performance. Jankevicius commented that the song ‘Iris’ is one of his top five favorites, and if Inga hadn’t pressed the buzzer, he would have. Mikutavicius considered Tan to be a big star, even bigger than himself.

Tan’s journey in Lithuania hasn’t been limited to Lithuania Got Talent. In 2019, he reached the finals of a European TV singing competition. He also performs in his own bar called Lucille in the capital city, Vilnius. Tan explained that he has always wanted to open his own bar, even in Malaysia, but there is a special charm to having a bar in Europe.

Although Tan enjoys his life in Lithuania, he admitted that he misses Malaysia, especially the food and his family, including his musician brothers. He mentioned how beautiful the old town of Vilnius is and expressed his desire to have his brothers with him there.
