The Minister of Local Government Development, Nga Kor Ming, has announced that an additional RM2mil has been allotted for local councils in Perak. Out of this amount, RM1mil will be given to the Ipoh City Council. Nga Kor Ming shared this information with reporters after officiating the re-opening of the Panggong Silver Star and lantern festival in Kampung Simee on September 24.

In September, it was reported by Sinar Harian that the ministry had approved an allocation of RM68mil for 15 local councils in Perak, making it the highest allocation granted by the ministry. In line with the lantern festival, Nga Kor Ming explained that five programs were held in Ipoh, attracting an estimated total of 15,000 attendees.

Nga Kor Ming mentioned that he recently had a meeting with Loh Sze Yee, the chairman of Perak’s tourism committee. During the meeting, Loh Sze Yee informed Nga Kor Ming about Perak Visit Year 2024. According to Loh Sze Yee, Perak will organize a large lantern festival as part of the state’s tourism calendar. Nga Kor Ming, who is also the Kepayang assemblyman, confirmed the attendance of nearly 2,000 people at the event in Kampung Simee.

With the additional allocation, the Ipoh City Council will be able to replace street lamps across the city.
