KLANG: The preliminary report of the fatal air crash near Elmina Township will be released on Sept 15, says Transport Minister Anthony Loke.

According to Loke, the report will focus on the voice recording data analysis retrieved from the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) of the aircraft.

“We will issue a preliminary report next Friday,” he told reporters after opening the DAP Wanita national congress yesterday.

Loke had previously mentioned that the preliminary report would be released before Malaysia Day to meet the 30-day deadline following the Aug 17 crash.

On Aug 29, the minister confirmed that the manufacturer successfully retrieved the data from the CVR.

An air crash involving a Beechcraft 390 Premier 1 aircraft occurred when the plane was flying from Langkawi to Subang and crashed onto the Guthrie Corridor Expressway in the township of Elmina, Shah Alam, at around 2.50pm on Aug 17.

All eight people on board, including Pahang state executive councillor Datuk Seri Johari Harun, as well as two road users, were killed in the crash.

As for a different matter, Loke announced that a trial run for a ladies-only coach on the MRT Kajang Line will commence at the end of the month, as reported by Bernama.

If the initiative proves successful, the ministry will extend it to train services on other lines.

“We want to have women-only coaches as we have observed an increase in sexual harassment cases on trains.

During rush hour, women have to ride on overcrowded trains and physical contact sometimes occurs,” he explained.

Loke added that each coach will be able to accommodate over 100 female commuters at a time.

RapidKL previously announced on Sept 6 that it will introduce a women’s only coach for trains operating on the MRT Kajang Line.
