The lorry driver involved in a fatal accident on Friday (Sept 15) near Chukai, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals, has been remanded for four days beginning on Saturday (Sept 16), according to Judge Wan Suhaila Mohd. The remand order was made under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. The 44-year-old driver arrived at the court accompanied by police officers at 9 am.
A multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) carrying a family was hit by a sand-laden lorry with brake issues at 2 pm. The lorry suddenly appeared from the left, crashing into the MPV at KM154 of Jalan Jerangau-Jabor, close to the intersection of Jalan Cheneh-Mak Lagam. The accident claimed the lives of a father and his two young sons, aged four and one. The deceased victims have been identified as Ammir Hussein Mohamad, 38, Ammzar Husszair Al Hussein, four, and Ammzar Hussnayan Al Hussein, one.
Ammir Hussein’s wife, Norhafizah Sazwa Harun, 38, and the couple’s adopted son, Ammzar Hussniah Ammir Hussein Abdul Azim, eight, were injured in the incident and are in critical condition. Both individuals are being transferred to Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital (HSNZ). – Bernama
