    Lorry driver on meth remanded for role in deadly 10-vehicle crash

    SEREMBAN: A 38-year-old lorry driver who had tested positive for methamphetamine has been remanded for two days for his role in a deadly 10-vehicle pile-up near here that killed one and left another in intensive care.

    Magistrate Fairuz Syuhada Amran signed the order following an application from the police.

    A 31-year-old man was killed in the accident when his car was pinned under the quarry stone-laden lorry which turned on its side due to the impact of the crash.

    The accident happened along Jalan Seremban-Tampin near the Middle Ring Road intersection.

    A 48-year-old woman has also been admitted into the intensive care unit at Tuanku Ja’afar Hospital.

    The case is being investigated under section 44(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

    Seremban police chief Asst Comm Mohamad Hatta Che Din said anyone with information on the incident can contact Insp Fadzilah Mohd Zainuddin at 019 4611 794 or the nearest police station to assist in investigations.

    Ten vehicles including two lorries were involved in the 1.30pm crash on Wednesday.

    The lorry driver was heading towards Seremban from Tampin when he lost control of the heavy vehicle and ploughed into the other vehicles.
