Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh stated that the Pulai parliamentary by-election experienced a low voter turnout due to unfavorable weather conditions. As of 1pm, only 29 percent of voters had cast their ballots in Pulai, compared to 39 percent in Simpang Jeram. Despite this, Abdul Ghani mentioned that the voting process in both by-elections had been smooth and expressed hope that the target turnout of over 70 percent would be achieved. He further added that most voters who turned up in the morning were in channels one, two, and three, and younger individuals might take some extra time to cast their votes later in the afternoon. Abdul Ghani urged eligible voters to fulfill their responsibilities as the weather in Pulai had improved after heavy rain around 9.30am. A check by Bernama revealed that voters, including those in SMK Taman Bukit Indah, braved the heavy rain with umbrellas to exercise their right to vote.
The by-elections have a total of 205,810 eligible voters, with 165,509 in Pulai and 40,301 in Simpang Jeram. The Pulai constituency has 47 polling centers, while Simpang Jeram has 14 polling centers with 68 channels.
