Residents in certain parts of Kampung Baru Sungai Buloh have been experiencing low water pressure for several months. This issue arose after the waterworks department, in response to numerous complaints, installed a new system to enhance water pressure in the main pipes. Unfortunately, the problem has become severe, affecting not only residents in the low-cost housing scheme but also those in nearby residential areas who rely on higher water pressure for appliances such as washing machines and electric showers. Consequently, disabled residents and senior citizens are also impacted by this situation, causing inconvenience and difficulties, particularly for those who are employed.
These areas have long struggled with low water pressure due to the substantial increase in the number of houses, buildings, and consumers over the past two decades. To meet the growing demand and usage, it is necessary to install larger pipes. However, the waterworks department must acknowledge that their new booster and stabilizing system has not been effective, as even houses that previously had reasonable water pressure are now encountering problems. This approach is not the solution to alleviate or rectify the issue, as residents are experiencing low pressure in areas where it previously did not occur.
The residents are hopeful that the waterworks department will promptly address these problems and find ways to rectify them. Additionally, they urge the department to consider implementing long-term plans that involve increasing the water supply through the installation of larger pipes.
