The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested two individuals in Shah Alam on suspicion of corruption in a flood relief project worth approximately RM900,000.
Sources indicate that the first suspect, a former operations manager of a foundation, allegedly misused his position to recommend the company owned by the second suspect, who is reportedly a relative, for the supply of relief necessities last year.
The arrests were made on Monday (July 24) at around 2.30pm at the Selangor MACC office, where the two suspects were brought in for questioning.
Datuk Alias Salim, the director of Selangor MACC, confirmed the arrests and stated that the case is being investigated under Section 23 of the MACC Act.
The two suspects are scheduled to be presented before the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday (July 26) for a remand application.
The MACC, an agency committed to combating corruption in Malaysia, is actively working to address alleged cases of corruption and ensure that those involved are held accountable for their actions.
