The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is likely to call in former education minister Datuk Dr Mohd Radzi Jidin for its investigation into a multi-million ringgit book-printing project, according to MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki. However, he stated that Radzi would not be summoned immediately as the matter is still under investigation (The Star).
Earlier, the MACC apprehended a former political secretary to a minister and another individual as part of their inquiry. Both individuals were taken into custody after providing statements on Friday night at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya. They have been remanded until September 26 (The Star).
One of the suspects, who is in his 20s, was a political secretary to a previous senior minister. The other suspect, in his 50s, is the owner of a company believed to have colluded with the minister in awarding the project through direct negotiation (The Star).
MACC Deputy Chief Commissioner (Operations) Datuk Seri Ahmad Khusairi Yahaya confirmed the arrest and informed that the case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009 (The Star).
Refuting any involvement in the project, Radzi released a Facebook video denying the allegations connecting him and his wife to the printing of the J-Qaf preschool books (The Star).
