PETALING JAYA: Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal has filed an emergency motion calling for a special Parliament sitting to allow the Attorney General to explain the decision to grant Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi a discharge not amounting to an acquittal (DNAA). The motion was sent to Parliament at 8.30am on Friday (Sept 8), with the requested sitting to be held on Sept 11.
Wan Ahmad argued that it is essential for the Attorney General to provide an explanation as the issue at hand is of public interest and aims to protect the integrity of the Federal Government and the law. In a Facebook post on Friday, Wan Ahmad urged the public to support the motion so that it can be considered by the Parliament Speaker.
The Parliament has a scheduled sitting for six days, starting from Sept 11, to discuss the mid-term review of the 12th Malaysia Plan and engage in subsequent debates.
Last Monday (Sept 4), the High Court granted Ahmad Zahid a DNAA for all 47 graft charges relating to the Yayasan Akalbudi funds.
