KUALA LUMPUR: Despite rumors and predictions of instability, the government has proven its ability to work together effectively and focus on serving the people, according to Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

Fahmi highlighted the successful formulation of five significant policies this year, attributing the government’s strength and stability as the driving force behind these achievements.

He pointed out the positive impact of the Madani Economy framework on the country’s economy and people, as well as the potential of the New Industrial Masterplan 2030 (NIMP 2030) to attract investments and create high-paying jobs in key industries.

Furthermore, Fahmi mentioned the government’s efforts to review the remuneration scheme for civil servants and introduce the Progressive Wage Policy aimed at increasing the salaries of private sector workers across Malaysia.

He also highlighted the introduction of the Energy Transition Policy in response to the country’s urgent need to transition to new energy sources, which is a significant step towards addressing environmental concerns.

At the ministry level, Fahmi expressed gratitude for successfully implementing initiatives such as reducing internet prices and facilitating negotiations with telco companies to offer 5G services. He also mentioned the use of Starlink to address internet issues in remote areas and the increase in salaries for managers and assistant managers at Digital Economic Centres nationwide.

He further noted a 23 per cent increase in job opportunities for young people in the digital economic sector compared to the previous year, reflecting the government’s efforts to create more opportunities for the youth.

Looking ahead to 2024, Fahmi expressed hope for continued progress and a better year for everyone under the Madani government.
