Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim stated that the Madani Inclusive Housing Concept will act as a stimulus for the development of affordable housing projects for targeted groups in the country. As the Prime Minister, Anwar emphasized that the initiative began in collaboration with Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to provide homes to targeted groups in the capital. He also confirmed that this initiative will be conducted in partnership with related government agencies.

Anwar, also the Finance Minister, highlighted the government’s commitment and focus on the housing agenda to ensure that all Malaysians, regardless of their household income group, can reside in a conducive and harmonious environment to support the formation of a Madani community that experiences quality and cohesive living conditions.

On Monday (Dec 11), Anwar chaired the National Affordable Housing Council (MPMMN) meeting to discuss housing issues between the Federal Government, state governments, and industry players. The meeting included discussions on the direction, coordination, and monitoring of affordable housing plans, as well as the construction and maintenance of houses.

In a post on Facebook on Monday, Anwar announced that during the meeting, he had agreed to the target of providing 500,000 affordable housing units under the 12th Malaysia Plan (RMK12). He stressed the importance of achieving this target for the benefit of the people, and also emphasized the need to expedite efforts and approval processes to encourage investment and business dealings.

Additionally, Anwar emphasized that streamlining approval processes would attract developers to build more affordable homes. The meeting was attended by Mentris Besar, Chief Ministers, Housing Committee chairmen, Cabinet Ministers, and various agencies involved in housing from the Federal Government, state government, statutory bodies, as well as housing developers from the private sector. – Bernama
