KOTA KINABALU: The Madani concept and Sabah Maju Jaya development plan of Malaysia are highly regarded by China. Dr. Huang Shifang, the consul-general in Kota Kinabalu, emphasized the positive impact of these initiatives on the friendly cooperation between China and Malaysia, especially between China and Sabah. She expressed her desire to take advantage of the opportunities presented by these plans to deepen the friendship, improve exchanges, and promote the China-Malaysia community with a shared future during a Chinese New Year reception hosted by the Chinese Consulate.
Huang highlighted the potential for cooperation between Malaysia and China in achieving mutual development goals and global betterment. She acknowledged the challenges faced by both nations and the progress achieved in implementing the Malaysia Madani concept and the Sabah Maju Jaya development plan, in spite of global challenges to world peace and development last year.
Under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, China has made significant strides in its Covid-19 response efforts, achieving smooth transition and steady progress in pursuing high-quality development. China achieved 5.2% GDP growth in 2023 while modernizing its industrial system, further upgrading its economy’s momentum of recovery.
Huang also mentioned the important consensus reached by the two nations on building the China-Malaysia community with a shared future and the reciprocal visa-free policies implemented since December 1, which greatly benefits people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor echoed the sentiments of Huang, expressing the state’s appreciation and strong commitment to cooperation with China and the desire to strengthen their relationship further, for saw fruitful outcomes over the years, and for continued collaboration in the spirit of friendly ties and cooperation.
