MELAKA: The Mahkota Charity Run is set to return after a five-year break, organized by Mahkota Medical Centre with the theme “Breast Cancer Heroes Run.” The run will take place at 6am on October 8, with the starting point at the hospital. The run was last held in 2018 but was discontinued due to various reasons, including the Covid-19 pandemic.”MMC is excited to announce the return of our signature event and aims for 3,000 participants for this year’s run,” said MMC deputy CEO Teo Chin Yee in a statement on Wednesday (Sept 13).
Teo noted that breast cancer remains the leading cause of cancer deaths among Malaysian women. According to medical data, it is estimated that over nine individuals die from breast cancer daily, accounting for 3,500 deaths each year. “In conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, MMC is organizing the fifth edition of the run to unite the community and raise awareness,” she added.
Teo further mentioned that all proceeds from the run will be donated to the hospital’s charity partners, the National Cancer Society Malaysia and Seck Kia Eenh Cancer Fund Melaka. The Mahkota Charity Run 2023 offers two categories, a three-kilometer fun run and a 10-kilometer men’s and women’s open category.
