KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia and Palestine have reached an agreement on the urgent need for comprehensive efforts to put an end to any form of violence in Gaza. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim made this announcement following his telephone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. The purpose of their discussion was to address the latest developments in Gaza.

In a post on his X account, Anwar emphasized the importance of ensuring that humanitarian aid is immediately provided to the Palestinian people. Additionally, both leaders strongly condemned the attacks by the Zionist regime on civilians, as informed by Abbas.

Currently, Anwar is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia attending the inaugural Asean-Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit. Malaysia serves as the Asean coordinator for this summit, which aims to enhance cooperation between the two regional organizations.

The Israel-Palestine conflict and finding solutions to alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza following the recent military actions by the Zionist forces are among the key topics to be discussed during the summit. – Bernama
