PETALING JAYA: Vision Zero, a concept to promote good occupational safety and health (OSH), should be embraced at all workplaces nationwide, says Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye (pic).
The Alliance for a Safe Community chairman stated that the International Social Security Association (ISSA) is actively introducing Vision Zero at the global level.
“The ultimate aim of the concept is to help prevent accidents and diseases in the workplace,” he said in a statement on Sunday (July 14).
Lee explained that Vision Zero is more than a concept; it represents a mindset that all injuries and ill health can be prevented.
“We must adopt this new mindset of Vision Zero as widely and deeply as possible across all industries, enterprises, and among individual workers.
“Everyone needs to do their best so that they can go home safe and healthy,” he said.
Lee noted that more countries are introducing policies based on the principles and values of Vision Zero to keep their workforce safe, healthy, and productive.
“On the company level, organisations are embracing Vision Zero as a method to manage their talent and as part of good corporate governance and operational integrity.
“Fundamentally, Vision Zero requires a mindset that all injuries and ill health arising from work are preventable and a belief that zero harm is possible,” he said.
