Malaysia is set to host the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 tournament, which will feature 12 top Dota 2 teams competing for a prize pool of US$1 million (RM4.6 million).
The tournament will take place at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) in Kuala Lumpur.
As stated in a press release, the event will commence with a three-day group stage from December 11 to 13, where two groups of six teams will participate in a single round-robin format.
The top six teams from the group stage will advance to the live playoffs, which will have a double elimination format and will be held from December 15 to 17. Further information regarding the participating teams will be disclosed at a later date.
“This December, we’re bringing back ESL One, bigger & more accessible than ever before, as we move the tournament from Genting to Kuala Lumpur for the first time,” said Shane Clarke, Director of Game Ecosystems – Dota 2 at ESL FACEIT Group.
Malaysia has previously hosted ESL One in 2017, 2018, and 2022 at Genting Highlands in Pahang.
In last year’s tournament, which had a prize pool of US$400,000 (RM1.8 million), the champion team OG from Europe walked away with US$175,000 (RM821,887).
Tickets for ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023 at Mitec will go on sale from September 21, with prices ranging from RM149 to RM499. For more information, visit the ESL One website.
