SINGAPORE: Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to visit Singapore on Wednesday (Sept 13) to deliver a speech at an international summit. Anwar and his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, will be invited to have tea with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Mrs Lee during their visit to Singapore. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore announced on Tuesday that Anwar, who is also Malaysia’s Minister of Finance, will be speaking at the Milken Institute Asia Summit 2023.
This three-day summit will feature prominent speakers such as Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Lawrence Wong, Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, Academy award-winning actor Ke Huy Quan, and McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown. The Milken Institute, a non-profit and non-partisan think tank, focuses on accelerating progress towards a meaningful life and addressing critical global issues related to financial, physical, mental, and environmental health by gathering innovative ideas and resources.
During his trip, Anwar will be accompanied by Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry, and Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, Malaysia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. This will be Anwar’s second visit to Singapore since assuming office on November 24. His first official visit as Malaysia’s prime minister took place on January 30, during which he met President Halimah Yacob and PM Lee. Anwar and Lee also witnessed the signing of three agreements to enhance cooperation in digital and green economy and collaborate on data protection and cyber security.
