    Malaysians can use Padu without worries, says Fahmi

    Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has assured Malaysians that the Central Database Hub (Padu) system has been developed with a focus on cybersecurity, ensuring the security of personal data.

    Fahmi pointed out the involvement of key cybersecurity entities such as the National Cyber Security Agency (Nacsa), CyberSecurity Malaysia, and the Personal Data Protection Department (JPDP) as evidence that cybersecurity was a top priority in the system’s development.

    Fahmi also praised the proactive measures of the JPDP in ensuring the proper storage and lawful processing of data, expressing confidence that Malaysians can use the Padu system without concerns about the security of their personal data.

    The official launch of the Padu system was officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday (Jan 2).

    Fahmi emphasized that Padu would bring about a cultural shift and aid the government in policy formulation and efforts to help the people.

    Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi highlighted Padu’s role in cost-cutting and ensuring subsidies are directed to deserving recipients, as opposed to past inefficiencies in subsidy allocation.

    Ahmad Zahid, who is also Rural and Regional Development Minister, stressed the importance of implementing Padu quickly to generate savings for development programmes.

    Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo hailed the launch of Padu as a historic milestone for digital transformation in the country, urging cooperation in updating information in the system. Transport Minister Anthony Loke emphasized the responsibility of elected representatives in ensuring the public updates their information in the Padu system for more efficient aid distribution.
