KUCHING: Nine crew members, including four Malaysians, are missing after their cargo ship capsized near Pulau Burung, off the coast of Sebuyau. The Malaysians are Chieng Siew Ngiek, Wong Hua Wu, Maxwell Billy Stimba, and Stimba Anak Chuit. The other missing individuals are from Myanmar and Indonesia. The age range of the victims is between 20 and 52, according to Sarawak Marine Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) director First Admiral Maritime Zin Azman Md Yunus.
First Admiral Azman stated that the report of the capsized MV Tung Sung was received at 9.40am, and a search and rescue operation was initiated at 1.20pm. The MMEA’s KM Kinabalu and assistance from the police air unit were deployed to the incident location, covering an area of approximately 210.48 nautical miles. The search was suspended at 7pm and will resume at 8am on Friday, July 21st.
