The Prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is also the Finance Minister, has reassured foreign investors and industry leaders from the Asian region that there is no concern regarding the issue of political stability in Malaysia. He emphasized that now is the opportune time to invest in Malaysia.
In a Facebook post, Anwar expressed that he had conveyed this message to over 400 attendees during the Fireside Conversation session held at the Milken Institute 10th Annual Asia Summit in Singapore on September 13. The Prime Minister was in Singapore for a one-day working visit, during which he participated in two summit sessions titled ‘A Conversation with the Prime Minister of Malaysia’ and ‘Malaysia’s Investment Outlook: A Conversation between the Prime Minister and Global Investors’.
Anwar further stated that he had also had the opportunity to meet and engage with 22 entrepreneurs and heads of investment and banking organizations from Asia in a separate session. The International Trade and Industry Minister, Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, and the Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir, also took part in the sessions.
“I summarized that Malaysia focuses on complementing and adding value to economic and social growth with neighboring countries,” Anwar remarked.
In another Facebook post, Anwar shared moments of his meeting with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana, where the leaders discussed current developments and issues of mutual interest. Anwar also had a meeting with Singapore’s Foreign Minister, Vivian Balakrishnan, at the Istana and expressed his hope that the friendship between Malaysia and Singapore continues to thrive for the benefit of both Malaysians and Singaporeans.
This marks Anwar’s second visit to Singapore as Prime Minister, following his previous trip in January.
