KUALA LUMPUR: The government’s stance on the Pandemic Treaty of the World Health Organization Convention Agreement (WHO CA+) and the amendment of the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005) will be debated in the Dewan Rakyat on Thursday (Nov 2). According to the Order Paper on the Parliament’s website, Shaharizukirnain Abd Kadir (PN-Setiu) raised the issue with the Minister of Health during the Minister’s Question Time. Additionally, Chiew Choon Man (PH-Miri) urged the Communications and Digital Ministry to promptly address the issue of naked towers in Sarawak to resolve the problem of limited internet access services and communication networks. Another concern was voiced by Cha Kee Chin (PH-Rasah) who inquired about the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living potentially raising the quota of 60,000 tonnes of subsidised packet oil, which has been in effect since 2016, as the retail market consistently faces a shortage of supply. Following the session, the Dewan Rakyat will continue to discuss the Supply Bill 2024 at the policy level, with involvement from various ministries including the Ministry of Finance. The debate on the Bill at the committee level is scheduled for 12 days, from November 6 to 27. The ongoing Dewan Rakyat meeting, which began on October 9, is set to last for a total of 32 days, concluding on November 30. – Bernama
