PUTRAJAYA: Gobind Singh Deo, the Minister of the newly-established Digital Ministry, has announced that the Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (Mampu) will now fall under the jurisdiction of the Digital Ministry instead of the Prime Minister’s Department (JPM).
During his visit to Mampu’s office at the Setia Perdana Complex, Gobind confirmed, “Mampu is definitely under my ministry.” He was joined by his deputy Datuk Ugak Anak Kumbong and Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali. They were given a briefing on Mampu’s operations and structure by its director-general Datuk Rodzi Md Saad.
Last Tuesday, the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced the split of the Communications and Digital Ministry into two separate ministries, the Communications Ministry and the new Digital Ministry.
Gobind mentioned that there are still aspects that need clarification and fine-tuning in terms of job scopes that fall under the Digital Ministry. He added that a press conference will likely be called soon to address the areas that the ministry will be responsible for and the agencies that will come under its jurisdiction.
Yesterday, Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil revealed that the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), MYNIC Bhd, and the Department of Personal Data Protection will also be placed under the Digital Ministry. – Bernama
